Hi, I am from Guyana, not a well known country but a hearty one. This country has huge rainforest about 80% of it's land is covered with rich carbon dioxide consuming trees. It is located to the north of Brazil and part of the Amazon/Guiana shield region its rich in biodiversity with over 200 mammals, 800 birds and 1000 insects with new species being found everyday. This small country has all through the years conserved its forest but the financial burden is taking its toll ; as being one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere this country cannot curtail its development to save the forest but the country came up with the idea of making the carbon that the forests hold a commodity which can be traded on the world market i.e. the developed world would have to pay the exchange of each tonne of carbon a forest hold but the climate change meeting in Bali didn't yield the expected results. This is a country ready to place all it forest to the fight against climate change and the developed world is not taking it seriously so I would like for all the readers out there to advocated for countries with large untouched rainforest to received the financial aid that it needs. Countries such as Suriname, Belize, Costa Rica and many others will benefit from this carbon as a commodity initiative.
