Hi Split! yes I have played on stage live since I was about 10 years old, first as a piano-player alone, later with different bands. In the begining we had bad sound in the first band I joineed, but as things got more serious one of the first things we did was to get a sound engineer who was into our music, and who was with us everywhere we went. That makes things so much easier, because he know the music, and know how we wanted to sound. On stage we use monitors, also done by the mixing man. that makes you hear the others well, and it is easy to be in the groove. To the last I have to say I play guitar, but have not on stage, there I have been the keyboard player and the lead vocalist. However, there are many different ways to enhance the sound, you can have a let`s say a Marshall with 2x4cabs, one on each side, you can take a signal and make the guitar run through the PA, and much more, but you know with a mixing man in the band, he always took care of that so that is the best advice I can give you, on the next gig you go, ask their sound-engineer, he should be able to help you.
