I choose to commute by bicyle as a way to fight global warming. I started doing this about one year ago. I have also increased my own physical fitness so much that I am actually adding years to my life. Furthermore, at the extremely conservative estimate of only $20.00 a week for gas, I've already denied the oil industry over $1000.00 in sales over the last year. And believe me, I spent a lot more than that on gas; plus, I drove a gas-efficient Corolla. If even one out of ten people did this, it would damage the profits of the oil industry so greatly that they would be forced to change to energy-efficient fuel or solar power much more quickly. Just thought I'd throw this in!

Then they would just raise the prices as they have been doing. Its not the actual price of crude oil thats rising, its people already turning to hybrid cars and such. those corporate rapists will just find other ways to take our money. they have already invented gasoline engines that get 100mpg, and that was in the early 90's but the oil companies bought the rights and refused to put it on market. the only way to get that out is to merk them fool.

Gas prices fluctuate, and we buy gasoline no matter what the cost. That is the problem.

We allow corporations to do what they want. We do not educate ourselves. We do not take action. We post things on blogs, complain to our friends, and then go on doing what we've always done. We go on paying higher gas prices, and pollutiong the air.

Here is how I have chosen to take action: I live my life by example. I ride my bike everywhere. I participate in change by communicating with the government regarding issues that affect me. This is how I choose to respond to gas price hikes. It doesn't matter to me why they hike the price, or how high it goes. I choose not to pay, period. And my life has improved ever since.

Many of these topics relate to education. Educated people tend to be more aware of political issues and take more action as a result. Also, the process of becoming educated leads to a feeling of empowerment in and of itself. Most of us have a vast amount of knowledge at our fingertips due to the presence of the internet, but we have very little education. If this is all the result of corporate control, then we are responsible for it, becuase we let it happen, and continue to perpetuate it through inaction, or throught inappropriate action, such as extremism.

yes i clearly join to you.I'm riding bike too.I spent 1 hour on my bike to go to my school. It makes me fit and when i'm in lessons it makes me concentrate better. In my country "Turkey" so many people has very very low education and as a result of this no one understands global warming. And rich people here using SUV's.I believe that except some people no one understands global warming clearly. We create this whole thing and we must slow it down!!!

I agree with you, is important that everyone help of any form. I am working in a project in my community to eradicate places where people throw rubbish... eradicate "microbasurales", I don't know the word in english for it.
And we will carry out an education campaing to teach people to protect nature and places where they live.
Congratulations for your contribution!!

Heey, I ride my old (t)rusty bike everywhere too.
We have no car at home, and I must say that it's a notable difference in our finances.
High gas prices? Hah! Makes no difference to me!

I haven't really "chosen" to take action myself. I kind of rolled into it, having no choice.

There actually are many people who try to do something about this whole situation, well sort of. They usually wear dreadlocks and dress in rags. They walk on their bear feat outside. They scold you when they see you drink Coca-cola. They claim they are educated. I laugh at them.
This is one of the kinds of extremism Rajuncajun means, I believe.
Prove me wrong if I am.

PS: Hello there super bike friends. ^_^
