Education for all continues to be an acute problem in Africa, particularly Ghana. Despite the fact that government targets were education for all by 2020, an estimated 43.4% of children over the age of three years old have never been to school and 49.9% of the adult population of 15 years or more are completely illiterate." The plight of children remains considerably worse in Ghana. Why should these innocent children continue to suffer ? Children have the right not to be hungry or cold, the right to practice their own religion, the right to education, the right to live, the right to love, respect and security. Yet orphaned and abandoned children are at the greatest risk of exploitation and unspeakable forms of abuse. Countless thousands are trafficked through the underground sex trade, forced into slave labor, prostitution, or abducted by rebel armies. And, in the blink of an eye, their innocence is stolen. They are robbed of their childhood and human dignity.
