About Community



MercyInternational Ministry's Corporation (MIM’s Corp.) is the support andguide to create affordable housing coops, live/work community centers,coop businesses and a network of social support for mentally,emotionally and economically disadvantaged (MEED) people and theirfamilies. The mission is to provide a comprehensive framework ofoptions and solutions by using the MIM's Model of Empowerment for MEEDpeople and their families to achieve their dreams and goals. Our goalsare to explore multi-dimensional solutions to multi-dimensionalchallenges, and to empower self-determined, self or interdependentsustainable livelihoods and peaceful, positive and productivelifestyles.
Our objectives are to establisha national network of 24 hour – 365 days per year co-ed, incomesharing, live/work community centers, co-ed, affordable housingcooperatives and an Extended Family Solutions Network (EFSN). MIM’sCorp. is the “Mother” to guide and teach us how to empower ourselves toattain our dreams and goals; and to aide all of our cooperative effortsto build short-term lives together for some, and long-term livestogether for others.
March 21, 2007 MIM’s Corp. received its IN state non-profit status. We are now working on 501(c)3 tax exempt status.
MIM’s Place of Community Coop-INis a dream to keep the MIM’s Corp. Coop's, and its affiliates connectedwithin Indiana. It provides the opportunity to be part of an affordablehousing cooperative that includes social support of the formal EFSN, acombination of individuals, organizations (profit and non-profit) whichthrough our combined cooperative efforts empower us to createsustainable lives and businesses, both personal and cooperative.Ultimately, the cooperative will become independent of the "Mother"MIM's Corp., but will continue to benefit from the social support toenable MEED people and their families to live in the least restrictiveenvironment and self-determine their lives.
Pearl House of Peace opened itsdoors May 2006. We've had over 100 members. Some have resided for briefvisits, and others have chosen to make Pearl House their home. It isthe entry point of those who choose to form healthy interdependent,sustainable lives with other members of our community who arelike-minded.
Our collective works seekindividuals willing and able to live and work in community who haveenough vision and skills to make our cooperative efforts fruitful.
