HIM 1991'de Ville Valo, Mikko Lindström ve Mikko Paananen tarafindan kurulmus rock grubudur. Daha önceleri grubun açilimini His Infernal Majesty olarak açiklayan grup, Satanist imaji yaratmamak için bu açilimi kullanmamaktadir.

Grup aslinda kariyerine KISS, Type O Negative, Danzig, Black Sabbath ve Depeche Mode gibi gruplari coverlayarak baþladi. 1991 den 1995 e kadar askerlik dolayisi ile eleman degisikligine giden grup, nihayetinde 3 as elemana (Ville, Linde, Mige) Burton ve Gas‘in da dahil olmasi ile beraber ana ve kemiklesmis kadroyu olusturdular.

14 Nisan 2003 de Love Metal albümü yayinlandi. Love Metal ayni zamanda kapaginda Ville Valo‘nun resminin olmadigi ilk albümdü. Kapakta bulunan altin rengindeki Heartagram grubun isaretinin daha iyi taninmasini sagladi. The Funeral Of Hearts albümden çikan ilk single oldu ve Amerika listelerine 15, Alman listelerine de 3 numaradan basarili bir giris yapti. Daha sonra Buried Alive By Love ve The Sacrament Single‘lari yayinlandi.

HIM ' in 6. stüdyo albümü Venus Doom ' un çýkýþ tarihi nihayet kesinlesti . Daha önceden 10 Temmuz olarak duyurulan albümün geçtiiimiz haftalarda Eylül ayina ertelenecegi belirtilmisti . Venus Doom eylül ayinin 17 sinde dünya kapsaminda ve 18 inde amerikada olmak üzere yayinlanacak . ABOUT H.Ý.M
HIM is a rock band, or Love Metal, from Finland formed in 1995 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindström, and bassist Mikko Paananen.[1] They have released five full length albums to date. The band was originally called His Infernal Majesty, but they soon changed this to simply HIM one of the reasons being satanic confusion, which Valo has repeatedly denied any satanic relevance. (see below). As of 2006, they are the first and only Finnish rock band to sell Gold in the United States.

On April 14, 2003, HIM released Love Metal. This was the first album that did not feature singer/songwriter Ville Valo on the cover. Instead, it featured a gold heartagram, the band's well-known logo. "The Funeral of Hearts" was the first single and their first high appearance on the United Kingdom charts at #14, it also hit #3 in Germany. It was followed by "Buried Alive By Love" and "The Sacrament". (The Sacrament was recently used as the ending for the anime film Highlander: The Search for Vengeance)

Around the time of the Love Metal album the group became more well-known in America and internationally when professional skateboarder and TV personality Bam Margera began using the band's heartagram logo and promoting them extensively on his MTV series Viva La Bam. Margera produced their video for "Buried Alive By Love", which featured a guest appearance from Natural Born Killers actress Juliette Lewis. They played at Download Festival in 2003 on the second stage with The Hellacopters; the following year they would go on to headline the same stage.
Venus Doom is scheduled for release on September 14, 2007 in Germany, September 17, 2007 internationally and September 18, 2007 in the US. It is said that it will be HIM's heaviest material to date. At the "Give It A Name Festival 07'" HIM played a song from Venus Doom named "Dead Lovers' Lane". In an interview with The Gauntlet[3], Ville stated that the longest song on the album is 10 - 11 minutes while the shortest song is 5 and a half minutes. Venus Doom will be guitar-oriented album with a pronounced lack of keyboards. The song "Passion's Killing Floor" is on the Transformers movie soundtrack. The first single will be "The Kiss of Dawn", which the band has already performed during several 2007 tour dates, and the video can be found on itunes. The video for "Kiss Of Dawn" recently debuted in the UK on Scuzz TV on the 10th August 2007. On their website, heartagram.com, there is a page where a secret code is put and fans will unlock a portion of HIM's new song from Venus Doom, " Cyanide Sun". The code was changed frequently but the current code "willem dafoe". The fifth code is "transit of venus", it unlocks a clip of " Dead Lover's Lane ". HIM's Offcial YouTube Page has released a 0:30 clip of another video for the song "Bleed Well".
