Gifts are only prizes
From the heart -
But do you love me,
I ask?

My eyes are forever
Upon you, even though
You're drawn away
From my presence.
Sometimes, I feel your eyes
Upon me, but do you love me,
I ask?

When I smile, the world
Seems brighter, a wonderful
Grin I give - for a reason
I can't comprehend.
When you smile, I know
It's at me, but do you love me,
I ask?

Powerful words exist
Between us, feeling alive
As though we linger forever -
But are these words love,
I ask?

If I'm reading wrongly,
God, forgive me - for if we remain
Only companions, it would be
A privilege; no matter
What lies ahead, may my heart
Remain with you forever,
So our paths lead us
To freedom's way.
