The sign bears the emblems of the Jerusalem municipality and the three resistance organizations. It further notes: "The resistance fighters refused to acknowledge the authority of the court to judge them, and asked to be recognized as prisoners of war." The speaker of the Palestinian Authority's parliament, who was arrested two weeks ago by the Israel Defense Forces, also refused to acknowledge the authority of the Military Court to judge him. Obviously the two latest detainees, whose arrest was deemed by Israel to be the appropriate solution to its shortcomings in releasing kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, will make the same declaration. Nasser A-Shaer, the Palestinian education minister and deputy prime minister, and Mahmoud Ramahi, chief whip of the Palestinian Legislative Council, were arrested on Saturday and Sunday. Incidentally, the Palestinians have lately ceased using the verb "arrested" in regards to the arrests of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers. Instead they use the verb "abducted." These three detainees/abducted join about 10,000 other Palestinian prisoners and detainees. As with the prisoners of the Hebrew resistance, who saw themselves as POWs regardless of their actions (killing British soldiers or Arab civilians), some Palestinians request that their prisoners be declared POWs. Others prefer the definition of political prisoners. Let's let the definitions rest. In any case, from the offense to the jailing, Israel, as an occupying force, plays around with the definitions as it sees fit. On Sunday, at 4:30 A.M., IDF soldiers shot and killed a worker, Jalal Uda, 26, and injured three other Palestinian civilians. This happened not far from the Hawara checkpoint, south of Nablus. Palestinian newspapers referred to it as the "crime scene." The young men rode a taxi in a road bypassing the checkpoints. For the last several weeks the army has again forbidden young men under age 32 from leaving Nablus. But people have to make a living, and thousands are looking for hidden routes. An offense punishable by death, so it seems. The soldiers acted as prosecutor, judge and executioner. According to the rules of occupation, when soldiers kill Palestinian civilians, they and those who sent them are never criminals, suspects, accused or convicts. The brigadier general who limits the age of those who exit the Nablus compound, by virtue of his belonging to the "Defense Army" can also not be considered a criminal, suspect or convict. When a Palestinian kills an Israeli--soldier or civilian--his name, picture and details of his indictment will be published. He will automatically be condemned to life in jail, and his prime minister or the leader of his organization will be considered responsible and hence a target for arrest or assassination. The soldiers who kill Palestinian civilians are sheltering under the wide apron of the occupation army. Their names will not be known in public, and their prime minister and commanders will not be deemed accountable. The Palestinian detainees are led to a military court: The same military establishment that occupies and destroys and suppresses the civilian population is the one that determines that to resist occupation--even by popular demonstrations and waving flags, not only by killing and bearing arms--is a crime. It is the one to prosecute, and it is the one to judge. Its judges are loyal to the interest of defending the occupier and the settler. Allegedly every Palestinian is tried, convicted and jailed as a private person who committed a criminal offense. But a sharp discrimination in the conditions of imprisonment proves that the Palestinian security prisoner is punished not as an individual, but as a representative of a group, as part of its overall suppression. Contrary to international law, the majority of Palestinian prisoners and detainees are not held in the occupied territory, but rather inside Israel. Contrary to popular myth, Israel does not respect the right to regular family visits. The army does its best to disrupt the visitation schedule, using various security and technical excuses. Only relations of the first degree (parents, siblings and children) are allowed to visit the prisoners, but hundreds of them have not had the privilege of any visits for several years. The right to make daily use of a telephone is given to the most dangerous of criminal prisoners, and is denied from Palestinian security prisoners, among them citizens and residents of Israel. This is done via a weak and unconvincing excuse of a security establishment that has advanced and effective surveillance devices. The path of sentence reduction and clemency is open to the Jew (especially when he is a settler) and is almost hermetically shut to the Palestinian. It is no wonder that the Palestinians support every action--such as kidnapping soldiers--that tries to break the rules of this discrimination game. Every Palestinian prisoner's personal history is an expression of the freedom Israel allows itself in the implanting of an extreme subculture of double standard, discriminating blood from blood, human being from human being, nation from nation. FOR THE TWELFTH TIME ! israel demolishes Arab village in Negev What kind of monster does it take to destroy a village TWELVE TIMES? The israeli kind. Israeli authorities demolished on Wednesday morning all houses, tin-houses, in the unrecognized Arab village of Taweel Abu Jaroul, in the Negev, for the twelfth time, and uploaded all the belongings of the residents on eight trucks before dumping them in a nearly trash-yard. Local sources reported that policemen took the identity card of Aqeel Al Talalqa, head of the village council, and took his car keys in order bar him from leaving the village to ask for help or to object to the authorities. Al Talalqa appealed all popular institutions to intervene and aid the residents of village, and stated that the villagers insist to remain steadfast in their lands. He also told the police officers that the villagers will rebuild their houses since they are built on their lands, and challenged the Israeli official claims which state that the village’s houses are constructed on state lands. Al Talalqa added that the residents installed tin-houses and tents immediately after the police left the area and that they will remain in their lands, and will not negotiate with the Israeli government as long as it continues its illegal acts of demolishing. He appealed human rights groups to provide the homeless residents with tents and voiced an appeal to all Arab residents in the Negev to unite against the organized attacks that target their villages and presence in the area. It is worth mentioning that after demolishing the houses in the village, the police headed to Al Araqeeb nearby area, and attempted to demolish the house of Sheikh Sabah Al Toury, but he managed to obtain a decision from the Israeli district court to delay the demolishing for ten days. Hasan Rafay’a, head of the Regional Council of the Unrecognized Villages in the Negev, stated that Israel, and extremist Jewish groups, are attacking the Arab villages in the Negev, although the residents own the lands. He added that Al Talalqa family owns 22.000 Dunams of land, and that the Israeli policy is to overtake all Arab lands. “We will remain steadfast, we will rebuild; demolishing and intimidation practiced by the government will not resolve any problem, and will only lead to undesired results”, Rafay’a stated, “The Israeli government must negotiate with is instead of attacking us, and must act to resolve our problems instead of dictating its own decisions”. Yes, the War is for Oil - and the Oil is for israel Ever wonder where israel gets its oil from? It's a very simple question that provides a very simple answer to another one: Who Benefits from the Iraq war and every other conflict in the Middle East? In fact, the following concise summary from Slate.com should make it perfectly clear to everyone that when Greenspan said that the war in Iraq is for oil, what he really admitted in an indirect way was that the war in fact is for israel. The leader of Hezbollah declared "open war" against Israel on Friday following the bombing of his offices in Beirut, Lebanon. The president of Iran has announced that if Israel were to expand the hostilities by attacking Syria, that would represent "an attack on the whole Islamic world and the regime will face a crushing response." Given the grim state of Arab-Israeli relations, where does Israel get its oil? From Russia and former Soviet republics. Israel produces only a couple thousand barrels of oil a day, which means it relies on the global market for more than 99 percent of its consumption. It's difficult to name all of the country's suppliers—in 2004, Israel's minister of national infrastructures admitted that "Israel's situation is complicated. We don't have diplomatic relations with most of the countries from which we import oil." But over the past 25 years, significant fuel imports have come from Angola, Colombia, Mexico, Egypt, and Norway. In more recent times, the Israelis have turned to Russia, Kazakhstan, and some of the other -stans for the bulk of their oil. Israel has long sought a local source of oil, especially since the oil crisis of 1973. Having a nearby supplier would increase Israel's energy security and reduce the cost of its imports. Iran filled that need for a while: Starting in 1968, the Israelis used a pipe called the "TIPline" to import Iranian oil from the Red Sea. But the shah was overthrown in 1979, and Iran shut off the tap. (These days, Israel lets the Russians use the TIPline to pump oil in the opposite direction.) The Israelis gained access to another local source when they took control of Egyptian oil fields in Sinai after the Six-Day War. Coincidence? I don't think so. When Israel agreed to return the fields in 1979, they wanted broad assurances about their access to oil imports. The peace treaty with Egypt stipulated that "Israel shall be fully entitled to make bids for Egyptian-origin oil not needed for Egyptian domestic oil consumption." An accompanying document outlined a deal with the United States that ensured Israeli oil supplies in times of crisis. Egypt continues to provide oil, but its importance as a supplier has diminished as Israel's appetite has grown. In 1995, Egyptian oil accounted for one-third of Israel's fuel imports; by 2000 that fraction had shrunk to one-eighth. While Israel was forced to look elsewhere for oil, it maintained a warm relationship with Egypt, at least regarding energy. In 2005, the two countries signed an agreement on the trade of natural gas. Meanwhile, Israel continues to seek nearby suppliers. In the lead-up to the war in Iraq, there was some talk of restarting an abandoned pipeline that runs from Mosul, Iraq, to Haifa. In order for this to happen, Israel would need to somehow wrangle the support of the Syrians, since they control part of the route. Are you seeing a pattern here??? They need oil, they take Sinai. They don't give it back until they've secure guaranteed access to its oil. They need oil, they kick off a war between the US and Iraq to secure cheap oil from Mosul to Haifa. But, Syria and Lebanon stand in the way, so they decimate Lebanon and now they're after Syria. And of course, they've been itching to re-open the pipeline from Iran since it shut down in '79. Hence, israel's incessant call for the US to attack Iran. Finally, israelis don't intend to end their quest for oil with Iran. They have other countries in their cross-hairs, like Saudi Arabia and their so-called "grand prize" - Egypt. The Israelis have also tried to ramp up their own fuel production. A few weeks ago, they got some press for developing a new way to extract energy from the country's large reserves of "oil shale." Why bother with peaceful innovative ways to produce energy when War is so much more effective? Especially when they have US paying the price, with both our money and our lives. In fact, israel's insatiable quest for oil and gas can even explain its relentless assault against Hamas in Gaza. So, the next time someone tells you that the war in Iraq is for oil, you tell them - ABSOLUTELY! - and the oil, in turn, is for israel.

عبد الباري عطوان 13/11/2007 عندما يؤكد ايهود اولمرت رئيس الوزراء الاسرائيلي أن علي المفاوضين الفلسطينيين الاعتراف مسبقا، بالدولة العبرية كدولة لليهود فقط كشرط للمشاركة في مؤتمر انابوليس للسلام، فان هذا يعني عمليا ليس اسقاط حق العودة لأكثر من ستة ملايين لاجئ فلسطيني يعيشون في الوطن والشتات، وانما التمهيد لطرد اكثر من مليون فلسطيني يعيشون داخل ما يسمي بالخط الاخضر، او عرب اسرائيل . لا نعرف مدي جدية رفض المفاوضين الفلسطينيين لمثل هذا الاقتراح العنصري شكلا ومضمونا، ولكن ما نعرفه انهم وكبيرهم الرئيس محمود عباس، قد شجعوا اولمرت علي الاصرار علي هذا المطلب، عندما قالوا ان رؤية بوش للسلام ستكون احدي المرجعيات الاربع لمؤتمر انابوليس للسلام. فرؤية بوش هذه تعترف باسرائيل كدولة يهودية، وتسقط حق العودة للاجئين الفلسطينيين، وتقبل ببقاء الكتل الاستيطانية الرئيسية في الضفة الغربية والقدس المحتلة، في اي تسوية شاملة للصراع العربي ـ الاسرائيلي علي اساس مبدأ الدولتين. هذه الرؤية وردت في رسالة الضمانات التي بعث بها الرئيس الامريكي الي رئيس الوزراء الاسرائيلي السابق آرييل شارون، ثمنا لقبوله بخريطة الطريق (بعد التعديلات) والانسحاب من قطاع غزة. ومن المؤسف ان الطرف الفلسطيني المفاوض قبل بها ضمنيا، عندما لم يعترض عليها بالشكل المطلوب. القبول بيهودية الدولة العبرية يعني عمليا ان تكون حكرا علي اليهود فقط، وان جميع المواطنين العرب من مسيحيين ومسلمين ليس لهم حق البقاء فيها، وعليهم المغادرة، بالجملة او بالتقسيط، الي الدولة الفلسطينية الجديدة المقطعة الاوصال، المنزوعة السيادة التي من المفترض ان تقوم في نهاية العملية التفاوضية. فهذا المصطلح لا يلغي حق العودة للاجئين الفلسطينيين فقط، الذي هو لب القضية الفلسطينية، وانما يفتح المجال امام طرد من بقوا علي ارضهم في فلسطين، ورفضوا مغادرتها رغم التهديد والوعيد والارهاب قبيل قيام اسرائيل عام 1948. ومن المفارقة ان الصهاينة الاوائل الذين وصلوا الي فلسطين بدعم من القوي الغربية، وهروبا من الهولوكوست وحروب التطهير العرقي التي استهدفتهم في اوروبا، كانوا يصرون علي علمانية دولتهم، واشتراكيتها، وينفون عن انفسهم اي شبهة عنصرية او دينية، حتي لا يتهموا بتكرار ادوار جلاديهم ومضطهديهم في تعاملهم مع ضحاياهم من ابناء الشعب الفلسطيني. الموقف الاسرائيلي العنصري هذا ليس جديدا، كما انه ليس مفاجئا ايضا، ولكن الجديد والمفاجئ هو موقف الولايات المتحدة الامريكية والدول الغربية الاخري التي تؤيده وتمارس ضغوطا علي الشعب الفلسطيني للقبول به، وتضمينه بشكل بارز في الوثيقة التي يتم التفاوض عليها حاليا، لكي تكون اساس جدول اعمال مؤتمر سلام الخريف الذي دعا الي عقده الرئيس الامريكي. فكيف تؤيد الولايات المتحدة كيانا يقوم علي العنصرية الدينية، ويقتصر فقط علي اهله دون غيرهم، وهي التي قدمت نموذجا في التعددية الثقافية والعرقية والدينية، والتعايش بين مختلف الأديان والأعراق علي اسس المساواة في الحقوق والواجبات، وهو النموذج الذي انتج القوة الاعظم في التاريخ؟ كيف تساند اوروبا الغربية التي تتباهي بديمقراطيتها وتعدديتها هذا المفهوم العنصري الجديد في مطلع القرن الحادي والعشرين، وهي التي الغت الحدود، ووحدت جوازات السفر، ووزعت ثرواتها فيما بينها بطريقة عادلة، وتقبلت اكثر من عشرة ملايين مسلم في اتحادها المسيحي، وحفظت حقوقهم بقوانين وتشريعات قاومت العنصرية وجرّمتها؟ هل يعقل ان اوروبا وامريكا اللتين كافحتا النظام العنصري في جنوب افريقيا، وتوحدتا في فرض حصار اقتصادي وسياسي خانق ادي الي انهياره بطريقة مخجلة، تساندان قيام دولة علي اسس دينية عنصرية محاطة بالأسوار العازلة من كل الجهات، دولة تتحول الي غيتو كبير، وهي الدولة نفسها التي كانت تعاير بها محيطها باعتبارها الديمقراطية الوحيدة، والممثل الاصيل للحضارة الغربية وقيمها في التعددية والتعايش والمساواة. احداث غزة الدموية التي وقعت يوم امس وراح ضحيتها ثمانية ابرياء يجب ان تكون جرس الانذار الذي يفتح اعين الفلسطينيين جميعا، علي مدي تدهور اوضاعهم الي حضيض الحضيض، فهم بحاجة الي مؤتمر سلام يجمعهم للبحث عن حلول ومخارج تحقن دماءهم وتوحّد كلمتهم، وتجعلهم يركزون علي ثوابتهم الوطنية. هذه الاحداث، ونتائجها المؤلمة والمؤسفة هي ادانة لسلطتي رام الله وغزة معا، وهي صرخة احتجاج في وجه كل من يقولون انهم قيادات يمثلون الشعب الفلسطيني ويتفاوضون باسمه، ويعملون من اجل مصالحه الوطنية. اي قيادات هذه التي يوقفها، وبطريقة مهينة، جندي اسرائيلي امام معبر، وهي في طريقها للتفاوض مع زعمائه من اجل الاعتراف بقيام دولته علي ارض فلسطين؟ وكيف ستعيد قيادات كهذه القدس المحتلة وستة ملايين لاجئ، وتزيل مستوطنات وهي عاجزة عن فرض احترامها علي من يتفاوضون معها؟ فإذا كان احمد قريع (ابو علاء) الذي هندس اتفاقات اوسلو ، وياسر عبد ربه صاحب وثيقة جنيف التي اسقطت حق العودة، يعاملان ومن معهما بهذه الطريقة المخجلة والمهينة من قبل شركائهم الاسرائيليين، فكيف هو حال مئات الآلاف من الفلسطينيين في الضفة الذين يذوقون المر يوميا امام ستمئة معبر حولت حياتهم الي جحيم؟ هؤلاء يكذبون علي انفسهم، ويعيشون في عالم آخر غير عالم شعبهم المليء بالمعاناة والدماء والاهانات والشهداء والجرحي والجوعي. ولذلك لا فائدة من الذهاب الي انابوليس او غيره، ولا بد من اجراء مراجعة كاملة لكل هذه المرحلة والعودة الي الثوابت، والعودة الي البيت الفلسطيني لاعادة ترتيبه من جديد، وسد ثقوبه وستر عوراته، بعدها يمكن التفكير في مؤتمرات سلام.

| Orthodox Rabbi Condemns Israel
Orthodox Rabbi Condemns Recent Israeli Atrocity in Gaza January 24th '08– Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, a spokesman for Neturei Karta International, a world wide organization of anti — Zionist Orthodox Jews, has issued a "passionate condemnation of the latest Israeli atrocities in Gaza and the entire Palestine." The Rabbi called the "recent deaths of so many innocent Palestinians a horrific act." He posited that "this is only the most recent example of the sixty year toll of human suffering created by the Zionist enterprise in the Middle East." The Rabbi representing the perspective of Torah true Jewry, declared that "Zionism is a fundamentally heretical movement which denies the Divine imperative that Jews remain in exile until the day when all mankind will be miraculously redeemed." He pointed out that the Talmud had foretold massive suffering in the event that the "Almighty’s plan for our exile will be defied." May the Almighty protect us all. "The terrible oppression of the Palestinian people is yet another example of the awful consequences of Zionism. This is a movement that disregards the Jewish faith and its teachings on every area of life, including its commandment that we seek peace and justice towards all people." The Rabbi added that, "It is great embarrassment to us that the Palestinians have suffered so much for so long at the hands of those who masquerade as representatives of the Jewish people. They are impostors. Torah true Jews the world over, would never lift a hand against any other human being." The Rabbi extended his prayer that "the day should soon arrive when the Zionist enterprise — the State of "Israel" — will be peacefully dismantled and Jews and their Palestinian neighbors will live together in a Palestinian state in peace. Ultimately the world should merit to see the glory of the Creator accepted by all. AMEN"
