We are an open group to those who share in the belief that there is something to learn from all religions, all ways of life, and all faith systems.

 

As a UU, you can believe whatever you want, but you are open-minded - and you are taught that the world is not ONE way.  There is no one "right path"...  all paths lead to the same end. 

 

Some of us believe in Heaven and some of us don't.  Some of us believe in reincarnation, and some of us do not.  Some of us believe that we are just a part of this whole system of life that has risen on out small planet in our small place in this universe.  Some of us (and i would venture to say MOST of us) accept evolution and science and the scientific method... though it is not a requirement... the point is - there is no requirement, nothing but acceptance of others.  We are progressive and we believe in each other as much as we do in ourselves.  We believe that each one of us should be allowed the option to CHOOSE our own beliefs, and system of faith, based on the teachings of many cultures and many religions throughout history.  We believe in the intelligence of the self, and the ability - with teaching - to choose a moral system of our own.  It is not a system that imposes anything upon us.

 

The point is - we can learn from each other - and we can come together to celebrate life and our connection to all of it - our connection to each person, regardless of political affiliation - race - creed - belief - sex - sexual orientation (and the list goes on).
