About backstreet boys

Hey Everybody! What's up? First of all, I'd like to thank the one and only five guys behind those powerful ballads like I'll Never Break Your Heart and As Long As You Love me.....Ladies and Gentelmen, boys and girls, I present to you......................Nick, Brian, A.J., Kevin, and Howie! Keep The Backstreet Pride Alive!

A lot of people wonder how 5 guys from different parts of the country can get together to form such an awesome group!!! But, obviously, it's very possible!!! Here is how it happened for the 5 cuties, Nick, Brian, A.J., Kevin, and Howie got together to form............... ........................ The Backstreet Boys!!!!!

Well, it all started when Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, and AJ McLean kept bumping into each other at acting auditions at Universial & MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida. They all noticed that they had another hobby besides acting...............SINGING! So, they started harmonizing together and decided they wanted to go furter with this career and wanted to find a record deal! The three Florida boys got their break! They were signed But, they all thought that they needed something more in the group!!! Let's say.......... ........a few more voices! So, them along with their manager decided to add two more band members to make the harmonies richer. They were introduced to Kevin Richardson , who at the time worked at Disney World, as Aladdin, and a Ninja Turtle! Kevin also liked to sing and he knew someone else that would love to make this his career. That very day Kevin called his cousin, Brian Littrell, in Kentucky and asked him if he would want to come and join the newly aspiring band. Brian had been in class when he got the call from his cousin Kevin! As soon as he heard about the new group he hopped on the next plane to Orlando, Florida. Now the Backstreet Boys are filling arenas around the world!  They have way too many hit songs to count! Quit Playing Games (With My Heart), Everybody (Backstreet's Back), As Long As You Love Me, We've Got It Goin' On, Get Down (You're The One For Me), I Want It That Way, Larger Than Life, I'll Never Break Your Heart, All I have To Give, Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely, and The One are all examples of recent songs that they have made it big all over the world with, but trust me there are more!

now something about the boys........

Nick Carter
Nick Carter was born in Jamestown New York on January 28,1980 to Jane and Robert Carter. Nick is the oldest of his siblings which include Bobby Jean,Leslie, and the twins Aaron and Angel. When Nick was in the 4th grade, he and his family relocated to Tampa Bay, Florida. This was the time in which Nick began to really show his interest in singing, dancing, and acting! Brian remembers his first impression of the blonde-haired singer who was destined to become his best friend in the group. "He was so energetic and full of life. I was like 'Wow'! I was totally bowled over, and then I heard his voice. Man, it was so big for such a little guy." This little guy with the big voice soon proved to be the biggest practical joker of all of the guys! In fact, Nick's pranks have become legendary. Who stole all of AJ's cloths one night from his hotel room? Nick. Who was FIRST to start a cake fight at a posh party? Nick! "I'm definity the prankster of the group," "I like to do anything I can to these guys." Despite all the kidding around, Nick's very serious about his commitment to the BSB. "I think everyone has a dream that they want to fulfill in life and I think this is our dream," he says quite seriously, "We wanted to make it happen and thats what we did. And we enjoy every minute of it and we take every day like it's our last."  Backstreet Boys have romped to the top of the records sales charts in Canada, Germany, Great Britian, and many other countries. However, their worldwide success and the attention that comes with it, hasn't changed Nick one bit. In fact, he's still slightly embarrassed to be compared with heavy hitters like Boy 2 Men, a group that all the Backstreet Boys would love to harmonize with someday. "The biggest surpise for me is to actually walk in a store and see your single sitting on the shelf," he says candidly. "You can't believe it's you sitting next to all these other famous artist." As the youngest member of the Backstreet Boys , Nick tends to get the lion's share of attention from the young females. Yet, he's not at all conceited about the extra eyes on him. "It's flattering," he says, but right now he's just not ready for a girlfriend. "I know a lot of girls that arejust friends- the way I perfer it," he says. "I don't really want to fall in love yet. I prefer to wait a little bit... We really don't have that much time for girlfriends." What kind of girl rocks Nick's world? Well, he admits that brunettes have often caught his eye, although any hair color is attractive if the person has a fun personality and is really nice. Nick also doesn't have a problem dating or hanging around girls that are fans of the BSB as long as they treat him like a normal human being.  "To be honest, I've never really fallen in love. I've never felt this strong sensation," he admits. With the tight schedule he and the rest of the guys have been on for the past few years, it's not likely that he'll find out what fallen in love very soon. "Personally, I love girls, but the fact is that we're always on the road," he says. "It's hard to actually stay down with one girl and go away. It's kind of hard to do that to somebody." Nick's popularity with fans makes the other Backstreet Boys quite protective of their youngest member. "Hes the one who gets grabbed at the most," says best bud Brian. "If me and him are getting out of the bus at the same time, they'd probably go for him. That's why we all try to off the bus with him-- we push him out first so we can all walk right on past.". Nick maintains that he's really just a pretty normal guy. While he's enjoying his experiences with Backstreet Boys , his family and his friends in the group play a large part in keeping his head on straight. "I'm a really peaceful person, I don't believe in being mean to people," he says. "Thats something I get from my family."

Brian Littrell
The Backstreet Boys voted Brian the one most likely to marry first. Actually it's a toss between Brian and his first cousin Kevin Richardson, also a member of the group.  Brian would like to meet a girl with a sense of humor, great personality and is trustworthy.  He notices a girls' eyes, he says, "Pretty eyes are nice to look at."  Nick and Brian, sometimes called Frick and Frack, enjoy each others company and spend a lot of time shooting hoops and playing sports-related Nintendo games.  It was Kevin who brought Brian into the group.  Kevin had auditioned and was asked to join A.J., Nick and Howie.  When they said they were looking for another member, Kevin gave Brian a call.  Brian's opinion on joining the Backstreet Boys, "I think everyone's here for a reason.  To do something natural, which for me is singing and being a ham on stage.  But to be a singer - to do something I love, to go to work every day and do something that I enjoy - that's what I was looking for.  I never dreamed it would be worldwide.  It's still kind of a little hard to believe."   Brian...  is afraid of heights ,joins Nick and A.J. at McDonalds when in foreign cities, keeps his room the messiest ,is likely to get married first ,is most likely to go to church on Sunday ,paid $50 for his king-sized waterbed ,has the bad habit of biting his nails ....

Howie Dorough

Howie Dorough, also known as Howie D, Sweet D, and Latin Lover is the youngest of five children of Puerto Rican and Irish descent.  Howie knew that he wanted to perform since he was seven.  He and his eleven year old sister were in a production of "The Wizard of Oz". Howie played a munchkin and his sister was Glenda, The Good Witch.  Howie's first love was music and he was cast in many community theater productions of top musicals, among them "Camelot", "The Sound of Music" and "Showboat".  His acting led to a Disney World commercial and roles in "Welcome Freshmen" a pilot for a Nickelodeon series, and in the films "Parenthood" and "Cop and a Half".  Howie is very close to his family. He keeps in touch while on the road by mailing postcards, calling, and even sends videos home.  He's always buying gifts for his whole family from all the places the Boys visit. Now what does the "Latin Lover" think about girls?  What type of girl catches his eye?  Howie definitely likes girls, but doesn't have a steady.  His work keeps him too busy for a relationship.  When the right one comes along, he may get more serious about taking time for a partnership.  Who would that one special person be?  She'd be blonde, good personality, fun-loving, and a good conversationalist.  He likes girls who have a positive outlook on life and have dreams of their own. He says he appreciates a girl who is "Someone who knows what she wants in life and how to go about getting it".  On the Backstreet Boys - Howie is very excited that the musical style that caused a sensation in Europe is now topping the charts in the U.S.

Kevin Richardson

Kevin Richardson is the cousin of Brian Littrell, another member of the group.  Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Kevin and his family lived on a ten acre farm where he rode horses and dirt bikes.  He loved school and played little league football.  Kevin's musical talents began early in life.  He grew up singing in church, often singing duets with his mother.  Kevin was a high school freshman when he got his first keyboard, it was just a short time before he was entertaining in restaurants and at weddings.  Kevin's theatrical experience was in musicals, performing in community theater productions of "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Barefoot In The Park". Soon Kevin took off to pursue a career in entertainment.  Arriving in Orlando, Kevin was hired by Walt Disney World to play Aladdin in stage shows and in the daily parades.  A friend told Kevin about a group called the Backstreet Boys that was auditioning singers. His voice and personality landed him the job.  He introduced his cousin Brian to the guys and the Backstreet Boys were complete.  Kevin admits that he is shy, but will always take time to have photos taken with children or signing autographsfor them.  He loves kids and looks forward to someday being a father.  His taste in girls goes beyond looks.  His perfect mate would have a nice smile, be smart and have a great sense of humor.  Being the oldest of the group, Kevin takes on the responsibility of being the one to keep the others in line.  He's a perfectionist, a responsible professional in a big brother role.  Ask Kevin about the hard work and sacrifice needed to achieve their goal, he is quoted, "Backstreet Boys is our life now.  Right now we're pretty much eating, sleeping and living it.  When you're a singer on stage, of course you can see the reaction of the people, and that's the greatest feeling of all.  That's what we're here for.  It's a natural high.  When you see someone singing your song, it's pretty wild.  It can almost make you want to cry".

A.J.  McClean

A.J. has been singing and entertaining since he was six years old.  His first theatrical production cast him in the role of 'Dopey' in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".  He followed this debut with parts in "The Nutcracker", "Fiddler On The Roof", and "The King And I".  A.J. had appeared in 27 plays by the time he was twelve years old.  He is an all around talent, not only can he sing and act, he's a natural dancer.  He learned ballet, jazz and hip-hop.  He puts all of his talents to good use during their live shows.  A.J. was cast in the Nickelodeon series "Welcome Freshmen" and auditioned for other Nickelodeon shows and also Disney projects.  He met Howie and Nick at one of these auditions and the roots of the Backstreet Boys were planted.  A.J. enjoys everything about being in a group like the Backstreet Boys. The travel, performing, and fans are great, but sometimes the extent of their fame amazes him.  It's just not as easy as it used to be to go out to a club or even shopping.  A.J. loves the fans though and will always stop to sign an autograph or have a picture taken.  The Backstreet Boys have labeled A.J. the flirt and also Mr. Talkative.  If he isn't flirting, he's on the phone.  Usually he's calling his family in Florida.  They all agree that he's very good at talking.  He's a good storyteller and he'll tell stories for hours, sometimes they're true, sometimes made up.  Of all the Backstreet Boys, A.J. admits he is the most girl crazy.  The first thing he notices are a girls' eyes, he says he can tell so much about a person looking into the eyes.  A.J. prefers long hair but short hair is fine too.  A.J. says he was raised to respect women and he is quoted as saying, "I'm the type of guy who likes to be there 24-7.  I'm Mr. Roses. I'll sing outside your window.  I'm as old fashioned as they come."  A.J. wishes all the adoring girls now were around when he was in high school.
